This competition is participated by a group of three which consists of two of my studio mates and me. We yearn to explore different designs and materials, so we joined the competition with enthusiasm. This is where we learn, enjoy and grow at the same time.
DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
The competition itself will challenge designers and architects, as well as the judges, to think beyond the conventional.
The construction/build of the Pavilion will be an incredible opportunity for participants to learn not only the basics but the cutting-edge technologies of building a structure made entirely of bamboo, with one of the most talented workshop teachers on the planet. The finished shelter will contribute to the World Bamboo Workshop theme: Bamboo for Green Life and Sustainable Development, for further reflection and discussion on this type of architecture, its significance, and its future potential.
The competition brief is attached as follows.

DESIGN STATEMENT
DESIGN CONCEPT
“One flower, one world, one leaf and one bodhi.”
“One flower, one world, one leaf and one bodhi.” In the “Huayan Sutra” of Buddhist classics “Buddhism” brought the wisdom and revelation of seeing the universe from one tiny matter as the flower, while all knowledges and wisdom of a bodhi tree is included in each and one of its leaves as being the embodiment of accumulation of wisdom. In this project, we designed the pavilion in such concept with architectural language which resemblance the wisdom above. The project in located at Thanh Tam Bamboo Eco- Park, Vietnam. From our perspective, to make the architecture expresses the language as clearly as possible, the project was design in such a way with circular plan spaces and focuses on segregation in between spaces to allow 360 degree viewing point thus allowing maximum appreciation of the surrounding context while avoiding sense of confinement or rigidity by users in the pavilion. As the appreciation in beauty of nature brings in the sense of eternity for the users as they walk around the structure which analogies part of the wisdom, the roof was designed as a rainwater harvester which indicates the focal point of wisdom and intelligence with the concept of a bodhi leaf and its veins. This allows the rainwater to fall from the roof like a curtain of waterfall while promotes sustainability at the same time. Although the structure is small, it embraces and comprises an interesting space for the users.
