BOARD PRESENTATION
Design requirements
A two-story tropical house with the floor area for both level 1 and level 2 of the tropical home should not be more than 245 m2 (2500 sqft).
House is personal space or a series of spaces. The space programme should be able to accommodate 1 family minimum of 5 persons with ONE family member required assisted living (wheelchair)
Students are required to develop your space program according to the occupants and their needs
The design should consider Malaysian climatic conditions and apply an innovative passive design approach.
The tropical Malaysia house should be resilient, sustainable, eco-friendly, energy-saving, comfortable, friendly towards senior citizens and children, calming with a natural breeze, and surrounded by beautiful landscape.
Design statement
Design concept: Intimate
Problem issue: lack of privacy
Intimate means a cosy and private or relaxed atmosphere. architectural design is applied in the Malaysia tropical house in order to provide privacy to the client’s family and at the same time enhance intimacy or connectivity with nature and create a relaxed atmosphere in the house using passive design strategies.
Design intention: To fulfill client's needs and desires, green design is applied to integrate client's family members with the green features which symbolises nature and appreciate nature beauty on behalf of the client.
